Young Sun Boat Yard Kaohsiung Taiwan ROC 1983:
The following are yard photos I took while visiting the YS yard.  The yard was
located in the south of ROC.  Many fine yacht builder are located in this region.
Due to rising property values and labor costs many yards have moved outside
Taiwan.

This is the production line of mostly 35's.  There is one 43 pilot house in the very front.  Hulls were made up in the off season and then used when needed.  Note worker access was gained by a second floor bridged by planks. Young Sun 35
Mr. Ho is the man standing and inspecting the on going work.  He is the principal owner of the yard.  I have been told by Ron Amy that Mr. Ho since retirement has become a Buddhist monk.  Young Sun 43
This is Peggy on the second floor.  Peggy was the office manager and proficient in English.  Without her nothing could be done.  YSY Pilot House
Craftsmanship and fine woodworking skills using teak.  This man is making lattice work for the lockers.  Boats had lattice, louvered or a combination of both types for their lockers. YSY Center Cockpit 43
Lots of working being done on Gamgee.  It is unusual to have this much activity on one boat but there was an inspection deadline.  The deadline was met and the boat was tank tested in the yard. YSY 43 Footer various interior shots

Black iron fuel tank being constructed.  One workman is using a sledge hammer, hammering the sides getting the baffles to fit tight before welding.  The welding process left a lot of grit in the tanks.  In Gamgee I placed a magnet in the fuel tank and would periodically remove the particles.
