Sailing/Racing Big Boats:
I have raced big boats under CCA, MORC, PHRF, IOR, IMS formulas as well as
One Design
I have raced around the buoys and offshore
Big boat racing is most fun at the starts and heavy air days.
After a 10 year racing hiatus, I started racing after work with the Draingerfield
Island Sailing Club (DISC).
In a borrowed 24 foot club boat in the only series I could race, I scored all
firsts - I still got the touch!
| Lining up and jockeying for position
is exciting. After the start things get boring and the fleet spreads
out. |

| Finished after a long distance race.
You can tell how well you did by where you are tied up. Closer to
the dock the better you did. |

|
| Offshore races are
tiring. It takes three days for your body to adjust to the watch schedule.
The best bed in the world is to sleep on top of a bunch of spinnakers. |
|
| After a big regatta there is always
a party going on. No lamp shades here, just climb the mast instead. |
|
| This is Temerity a T-Ten One Design
class. I mentored the skipper and did a few Mac races onboard.
In One race running with spinnaker and 8 foot following seas - we planed
at 26 knots. That is not boring! |
