Sailing/Racing Big Boats:

I have raced big boats under CCA, MORC, PHRF, IOR, IMS formulas as well as One Design
I have raced around the buoys and offshore
Big boat racing is most fun at the starts and heavy air days.
After a 10 year racing hiatus, I started racing after work with the Draingerfield Island Sailing Club (DISC).
In a borrowed 24 foot club boat in the only series I could race, I scored all firsts - I still got the touch!

Lining up and jockeying for position is exciting.  After the start things get boring and the fleet spreads out.

Finished after a long distance race.  You can tell how well you did by where you are tied up.  Closer to the dock the better you did.
Offshore races are tiring.  It takes three days for your body to adjust to the watch schedule.  The best bed in the world is to sleep on top of a bunch of spinnakers.

After a big regatta there is always a party going on.  No lamp shades here, just climb the mast instead.
This is Temerity a T-Ten One Design class.  I mentored the skipper and did a few Mac races onboard.  In One race running with spinnaker and 8 foot following seas - we planed at 26 knots.  That is not boring!
