Sailing/Racing Flying Scot:

After selling my big boat Gamgee I jumped back into the Flying Scots after a 30 year hiatus.
There are two strong local Scot fleets, Fleet 42 and Fleet 97.
Club races would turn out 8 boats and regattas 20 boats.
It took me 3 months to get up to speed and my tactics are still good.
I found I was fastest in heavy airs and big waves - just like in college.

Removed the old sail and bending a set of racing sails the morning of a regatta.

After bending on the racing sails, roll them up and tie them off until we leave the docks.

Lots of dock activity, loading up gear and checking out the competition.

Here I am racing a SCOW club boat (black/orange spinnaker) against another Scot which I later bought two years later.

My crew had no racing experience and it took two months of training before we became competitive.

Team effort, the youngest part time crew member Kelly would race with us but she like powerboats more then sailing.

At Fleet 97 I gave a racing seminar on tactics.

College days - I was much faster then today. But then again I mostly skipped classes and went sailing.
